Also known as Chelonia mydas, one of the long-lived species that comprise the charismatic marine megafauna of Hawaii, especially along the Northwest Hawaiian Archipelago. The green Hawaiian turtle is the only indigenous reptile to the Hawaiian islands; all others are imports, just like many of the people living in Hawaii.
